The Philips Stadion stadium in Eindhoven hosts the home matches of PSV. It has a capacity of 35,119 individual seats and is already over a century old, having been inaugurated on Aug. 31, 1913. A special feature of the stadium has it that a seat is always held empty. This seat was regularly occupied by Frits Philips, head of the Philips Electrical Company which has its headquarters in Eindhoven. In the last years of his life he chose to watch the PSV matches in the crowd instead of exploiting what today would be defined the "VIP grandstand " that the stadium offered him.
